is it so easy to give up? seriously i think people who are not perservering are definitely not suited to do research. Just when you face many possible errors in your results you would advise to stop the research and adopt a whole new way of doing it all over again, without even trying to solve the problems? what is it with this 'give up halfway' attitude?if that is the attitude one has in life, the person will neva succeed.
To me research is venturing unfamiliar grounds, its all about trail-blazing..it is expected that we do not know how we are going to get to somewhere but we just follow by faith and with perserverance and luck, we get there!even in times when we do not get there, i always believe that we will discover new routes to other places. Even if we get lost, we will leave behind traces such that others do not follow our footsteps. Obstacles are so expected in research and the joy comes from being able to overcome it, and overcome the situation. Don't you think the more obstacles there are throughout the journey, the more we will be able to appreciate the fruit of hard labour?This is my passion for research.
i agree that some people are just lucky. beginner's luck or whatever luck you can call it. some are just able to make discovery by mistake and sheer luck. BUT has anyone thought of the hard work put in behind this whole thing?you may question if there is. but if you think hard enough, the researcher would definitely have worked very hard trying to get to destination A, but through all the failed attempts and wrong routes taken, he discovers a new destination B! yes, he did not put in effort in trying to discover destination B and it was by sheer luck that he did. This is because he was only focusing on destination A. despite discovering B, he still has yet to get the A! it is still a setback in the discovery of A. but like what i mentioned previously, sometimes along the way, we do find new routes to new places, be it through luck or anything out of our control. Finding B is a little side-tracked reward for going on the journey of uncertainty, obstacles and rough terrains.
knowing that i am such a pathetic risk taker, research is probably the most high risk level thing i have ever done in my life.

OPI colour
am finally buying the super covetted OPI nail colours online! have been talking about buying online since donkey years ago and now thanks to Yiming, who 'jio' me for the spree, i'm getting my own 4 bottles of OPI nail polish!! *love*
but here comes the bad part.. having to buy something which u have neva seen before..and having different websites showing different shades of colour when its SUPPOSED to be the same colour, doesnt help at all! wonder if its the setting of my com..but colours look so different!one moment its pink, the next website shows that it has more of a reddish tone! its so hard to decide.. guess it the 'price to pay' for getting reali cheap OPI colours.. sometimes reali wonder if i could live with such uncertainty.. i guess some might find it exciting, thus addicted to shopping online.. but really think Princess is not one person who can take risks.. even in this small, tiny, minute extent.. yes, its cheap for OPI but its still freaking $7-10 a bottle! its kinda ex as compared to lets say sally hansen?haha..and very ex as compared to Face shop, etc.. but well i really don't know how good OPI is.. only my manucurist knows.. cos she paints them on my fingers and toes..the only time i used OPI myself was my friend's bottle which was near to drying up! so noo good experience there..hee.. :P
was surfing cozycot trying to look for more reliable 'real life' photos of the polishes and got super inspired to do nail art..haha.. cos many people upload their 'work of art' to the forum for people to comment..sounds more like waiting for people to praise in my opinion..*sigh* why the need?? *shrug*

be considerate, Singaporeans!
anyway, had quite a good weekend.. went for both the fireworks display.. by spain and by china.. boy must i say china's fireworks are good.. better than spain's in my opinion.. cos spain's ending part looks like they are just trying to clear whats left of their fireworks.. and to clear them fast! they simply just shot a messy assortment of fireworks up and don't seem to be caring much for the picture composition when its up in the sky.. the thought that came to my mind was that 'whats a planet-looking-thingy doing together with changing-colour-normal round-display with self-scrambling-red ants-looking fireworks‘? doesnt it occur to them that they don't make sense and definitely don't look nice together? hmmm.. they need to consult the princess's opinion on choreography of fireworks the next time round...
but well, this is not the main point about fireworks.. the main thing why i mention this other than this being my super-no.1-top-favourite is that i got super pissed off by some singaporeans!now now, hear the princess complain... here goes! we reached the place about 30-40 mins before the start and found that the place beside the esplanade was rather crowded.. then we approached a family who were there to ask if we could place our camera stand beside them..obviously not blocking their view..and in fact over the other side of the fence which they were leaning on.. and yes, they agreed..so we were very happy and i was convinced that singaporeans were nice! then when the time comes closer to that of the fireworks display, more and more people came.. then there was this group of friends.. comprising of 2 couples if i am not wrong.. then one of the girl squeezed herself right infront of me.. she is damn tall and she planted herself right infront of me! amazing manners! so i subtly tried to push her out of my space by attempting to adjust the camera stand and stick my butt out at her..i THOUGHT she will realise that she is invading my space and blocking me, so move away and give me a little bit more space.. BUT ＮＯ！！she gave me an irritated tone as if i was the one invading her space and blocking her! i couldnt take it any longer so i purposely pushed my bag in her direction, try to stand closer to her and poorly attempting to 'chase' her off. Yes, she did move but move in the wrong direction! she moved right infront of the couple standing infront of me and boldly block them right in the face! the couple just stood there stared at each other in disbelief.
i could not take it any longer, thus the words "so inconsiderate" came out of my mouth. The BF heard it. Told her gal and she had no response. So accustomed to this 2 words eh?used ever so frequently on her i would suppose. after which the bf attempted weakly to give me a 'pai seh' smile. but still no response from her. about 10 mins later, she responded! but in a totally unexpected manner! she shouted over the 2 other frens who were standing beside me, and ask why aren't they coming over to her side! *faint* apparently her friends know the situation better.. *jumping mad* comeon, they look like they are only 18-20+ years old as the bf was sporting a super short durian-botak head. just like the recruits! so whats with the younger generations? show some respects to the old ones like me! *grrr* i thought singaporeans are supposed to be educated in Civics and moral education, No?? go back and read your textbooks and remember what your parents have taught you. Yes, Manners is what i am referring to.
i told myself to take 100 mental pictures of her and make sure i can recognise her the next time i ever see her again. And am now super sensitive to the T-shirt with the word 'newbielogy' on it. Was worn by her bf. if i ever see this t-shirt again i will definitely scrutinise the gal with the person dorning the shirt. So if u have the t-shirt, keep it at home. DO NOT EVER wear it unless you want to be glared at. alternatively, u can give it to your enemy! i'm sure u wun mind him undergoing the scrutiny and harsh looks.

新的最爱。。
公主有了新的最爱！！猜？是tutu王子送给公主的生日礼物！其实力公主的生日还差一个多月。。但市场上可能不再生产这一类的手机了。。（对啦。。是手机！）所以王子就先买了。。
就是它! 其实也说不出为什么这么喜欢它。。就是不停的想着它。。可能是很想拥有一个很好的相机-手机吧。。就不想老是带着相机。。其实我的相机也是迷你型的。。hehe..（好像是在找借口。。）
超喜欢它的vivid mode sms..简直和msn 一莫一样！而且超多animations!拿来拍烟花也没问题！有空时会上载所派到的照片!

我要去台湾！
看了今天的《都市大发现》。。台湾真的有好多东西吃喝玩乐！一定要到小巨蛋看演唱会，在马桶餐厅吃一餐！上次到台湾去好像是6年前吧。。都不大记得玩了些什么。。嘻嘻。。好像就到了那些‘普通’的景点。。和到处吃！台湾吃透透！
今天公主的心情还不算太好。。该做的东西没做完。。还听到了一些不怎么开心的消息。。其实也没什么大不了的。。就有那么一点点不开心。。不去想也就过去了。。
小王子今天没回家。。到朋友的家住。。真好命。。像当年我考完了o水准才有机会第一次和朋友到家附近的商场溜。。时代不一样了。。不忍老都不行了哦。。

为什么？:(
为什么用ipod听radio这么难？还得买remote control??*sigh* 还一位苹果已经改善了这项‘笨笨’的 ‘条例’。。 还得在浪费钱。。。
经天一整天心情还蛮不错的。。拼了老命在读harry porter & the deathly hallows..小王子终于读完了。。所以终于轮到我了！！得快快把它读完。。因为拖得越久，就越有可能听到别人述说故事情节！公主最讨厌自己还没读完，就听到故事的结局！！完全不能忍受！！简直会疯掉！！所以要快快哦。。。
晚餐到了manhattan fish market 吃。。真怀疑他们一天能赚多少钱。。每次去都排着长长的队！！真是不可思议。。但是东西好吃。。没办法。。嘴里是念着可是脚还是不听使唤。。跑到长龙的‘尾巴’站住了。。 ;p 他们的虾真的嗜好吃到不行！*slurp*
只好还跑去换我的crocs!把celery青色换成了cotton candy 粉红。。超可爱的。。嘻嘻。。好喜欢哦。。真觉得没选错颜色。。嘻嘻。。
好了。。一整天也就这样结束了。。不管自己有没充分利用。。其实能够有时间‘浪费’人生也是一种享受吧。。

你们是谁？？
有时候真觉得好奇。。真得很想到到底是谁在看我的部落格。。一天大概有一两个人到我的blog 上。。可是我身边的朋友都好像没什么上这个网站看一看我写的东西啊。。hmm..真的好想知道。。完成公主小小的心愿好吗？就在strawberrychat 上留言就好了啊。。先谢咯！！
好久不见咯！
真是好久没上我的部落格了。。
这段时间也是好多事情发生哦。。去了一趟泰国，买了好多好多衣服！！吃了好多好多的美食。。嘻嘻。。其实去那里是为了参加conference..顺便玩了多几天。。哈哈。。
可是其中还得赶报告。。就为了PhD qualifying exam..交上了一分84页的报告。。真得快死掉了。。回到新加坡 就不停的赶着准备oral presentation..可是最开心的是我的presentation一完，就马上得到机场搭飞机到香港去游山玩水！！感觉真的好棒哦！
香港天气好热！！真的是热到没办法忍受！！37/38度真的不是普通人能忍受的哦。。真的好夸张。。人也变得好黑！！现在要不停的美白美白美白。。可是和tutu王子一起游香港真得很好玩哦！到disneyland看烟花。。海洋公园看鲨鱼。。逛夜市。。浅水湾流汗。。victoria peak 看夜景，看烟花。。（香港的夜景真的是太美太美了。。）吃臭豆腐，烧腊，港式美食。。yum yum.. 真的还有点吃不够呢。。嘻嘻。。现在想起来都还有点饿了。。好一阵子每到香港去了。。所以就从新当一下游客。。还蛮不错的。。住呢，就住在daddy的hotel..marco polo hongkong..还蛮方便的。。跟何况不用给钱。。哈哈。。太爽了。。 :p
其实一切都还蛮顺利的。。exam 也pass 了。。教授也要到美国去了。。所以也就没人‘烦’我了！哈哈。。shhh... :p
在香港还买了ipod nano! 所以现在得去研究如何操作它了！公主的新玩具。。 :)

Amazing
it is realli amazing how time flies! its been 2 weeks since the mini 'big' day.. all went amazingly well~ :) the whole cocktail area was done up so prettily..with so many flowers, ribbons..and not forgetting the 'noisy' waterfall..*reminiscing* but all went past too fast! it was all over in a jiffy.. mayb cos there wasnt a moment for us to stop, think, look around and absorb all around us.. it was quite a mad rush going for makeup, change into the gown, preparing stuff.. think it was even more stressful for Prince TUTU..
the moment came when we had to do the march in..i think it was a feeling neva felt before..everyone seated there was waiting for u..looking at u..ALL attention on us.. it was beyond the normal butterflies-in-the-tummy thingy..it was ermm.. T-rex-in-tummy? haa..ok.. lame.. but well u get the idea..

actually there isnt much change in our lives after this.. just that there was no more choice of 'breaking up' in our mcq options whenever we quarrel? sounds kinda negative but well its a fact.am slowly getting used to ppl refering to Prince TUTU as hubby/husband/etc.. haha.. but well, to me he is still the same old TUTU..
it is reali a super duper busy time for me.. after the ROM thingy, headed straight into the pile of work waiting for me (after a one day break? heee~). rushing experiments and all..it was madness..now? am supposed to finish up my 100page report which WAS supposed to be due on fri! but heck! i am only at page 18! am so dead.. by hook or by crook,hafta get it ready by mon..which spells less than 24 hours away!*shit*. duno why am so not motivated to do up the report. too many tings to put into words i guess..still dun feel at ease writing in this kinda format. it seems like another FYP thesis to be done in simply 3days?comeon, i took about 1.5 weeks the last time round! but if i dun haf it completed by then, i will be in breech of contract..*$%#@*
so.................................i shall..........................go back.........................to write..............................my report...................................bye.........................to all..........................................for now! :P (sense the reluctance??;D )

let go while u still can
love this phrase at this point in time. so much so that i haf got more things to write about now.
it is so filled with despair and disappointment. it feels so 'stuck' as well.nothing can be done to remedy.nothing can be done to help. it seems like an advice as well. like an advice to all who still can make a choice, make a stand and be able to live with it. certain things are like this,when u have started it, you can no longer walk away.things no longer just concern you, but everyone around you. when this happens, you are no longer deciding based on what you want, but due to the others which your decision affects. in simple terms, you are no longer you. you are them. you have lost yourself to them. they have taken priority over your preference. it is no longer possible for you to act on your own accord without being termed as irresponsible.
your life is no longer yours but theirs'
this is when you know that letting go is not an option.
this is also when you know when you have to take responsibility for the choices you make.
after you make your choices, you have no choice.
certain things are just so amazing. when wavelengths no longer meet, there is simply no common grounds for discussions or talks. everything will be misinterpreted and everything will be misunderstood. everything will need explaination and everything will make you sick and tired. differences that once seems new and fresh will appear as thorns that you will want to irradicate. when one starts doing this, wounds will results. after the wound heals, scarring will set in. one wound is bearable, but when it increases beyond your threshold, you will seek anaesthetic. the sweet relief of anaesthetic is addictive and it will soon serve as a form of escape route. when one is looking at the escape route for too long, they will forget what made them want to enter the room initially. when they resent being in the room, regret entering the room, everything in that room is an eyesore. once regret and resentment builds, it turns into anger. and anger is this powerful weapon that one uses to hurt anyone or anything in the room. with anger as the weapon, the word 'sorry' is the shield. with both weapon and shield, the battle begins. whenever there is a battle, theres bound to be casualties. it could be the sword bearer, the shield bearer or simply a passerby. war is bloody, war is full of mistrust, full of suspiscion, full of hatred, full of pain, full of resentment, full of disgust, full of weariness, full of guilt, full of regret, full of all possible negative feelings and emotions. when everything is all charged up, the only way will be to let go.

certain things are just so amazing. when wavelengths no longer meet, there is simply no common grounds for discussions or talks. everything will be misinterpreted and everything will be misunderstood. everything will need explaination and everything will make you sick and tired. differences that once seems new and fresh will appear as thorns that you will want to irradicate. when one starts doing this, wounds will results. after the wound heals, scarring will set in. one wound is bearable, but when it increases beyond your threshold, you will seek anaesthetic. the sweet relief of anaesthetic is addictive and it will soon serve as a form of escape route. when one is looking at the escape route for too long, they will forget what made them want to enter the room initially. when they resent being in the room, regret entering the room, everything in that room is an eyesore. once regret and resentment builds, it turns into anger. and anger is this powerful weapon that one uses to hurt anyone or anything in the room. with anger as the weapon, the word 'sorry' is the shield. with both weapon and shield, the battle begins. whenever there is a battle, theres bound to be casualties. it could be the sword bearer, the shield bearer or simply a passerby. war is bloody, war is full of mistrust, full of suspiscion, full of hatred, full of pain, full of resentment, full of disgust, full of weariness, full of guilt, full of regret, full of all possible negative feelings and emotions. when everything is all charged up, the only way will be to let go.

Disney on Ice
went to watch finding Nemo on Ice @ indoor stadium..it was a plesant surprise.. actually planned for Michelle's bday..but i didnt know about it too.. hee.. the show was really nice..really cute too! it was a revist to the childhood dream of going for such a show..always dreamed of going for it since young.. but didnt have a chance to..at least 20 years down the road i finally got a chance to hold popcorn in one hand, candy floss in the other, sit so near the skating rink and watch all the characters "fly" on the ice..mickey, donald duck and all..the story was the same Finding Nemo from the movies just that its acted out live! the props are really amazing.. the scale of how big the whale actually is is really impressive.. not to mention the indoor fireworks..such a surprise.. :) this is definitely a show i will bring my boy-boy and girl-girl in the future..haha..

Silence as a form of communication
since when did silence become another form of communication?since when did silence become the best way to confront a problem and solve it?since when did ignoring become the most efficient way of conveying a message?is this type of silence good?good that it helps avoid confrontation?no.. neva agreed to that. to me this was all rubbish.totally escapist.
but now?i have succumbed and relented. i have failed my philosophy. realised that tiredness have all sorts of possible influences, be it good or bad.
it is a very thin line between using silence as a form of communication and giving up. its so thin, i cant see it anymore.
suddenly feel so lost, like my world lost its center. intensity of things does make ppl lose themselves. I have lost myself in the process. cant remember what i was like in the past.its a distant memory.

my CNY
Princess Royale and her entire Kingdom wishes all a Happy new year!
Princess just came back from her CNY trip to Genting..though it was a short and nearby one.. but it was one which is SYMBOLIC.. :) it is the first time they ALL went on a trip together..though there are few unhappy moments, but its still fun having u (Prince T) ard..much much better than without u ( Prince T).. *big grinz*
well..wat can i say abt Genting?neva liked it anyway..haha..was dragged there..if not for Prince T, i wun even be going..haha..thanx for all the monopoly sessions with Prince E and Prince T..our cursed game of pool and bowling till our nails start to break off (i mean literally! its painful *sob*) Princess bought quite a number of cosmetic from Kate..(Prince T not Nabe! *grunt*) highlight flash, finish mascara..bought a diva-ish bag too.. neva mind if its the 137th bag that Princess have..there isnt much difference between 137 and 136..really couldnt resist this furry one from Korea..awww...it doubles as the 245th soft toy..haa...
will upload some of the dumb photos we took..its hilarious..*rolling on the floor laffing*
other than that? Princess is back in the lab..working on her Polyvinyl Alcohol electrospin..hope everything works out before tomorrow! got some reporting to do during meeting.. *triple grunt* and where, where, where is my antibiotics!! quick deliver them to the Princess so that she can do up her work on antibiotics!!
also Princess's schedule is so packed ever since she got back!went to watch Norbit yesterday, today going to Prince T's house for CNY, tmr going to rest after a long day of work and meeting, sat going to Princess J's house for CNY,nice buffet, board game sessions and BIG ang baos here i come! Sunday will be visiting Princess's grandparents.. the Grand-King and Grand-Queens..sounds busy enuf for the Princess..Packed all the way till Sunday~
BTW, Norbit is fun! haha..some brainless jokes..but well, its sometimes good to not use your brain too much.. Runs the risk of overheating..

Give me time
how i wish i have the time. all the time in the world..i would take a break, do my long long long overdued experiments, do up my review journal paper, plan for my project directions, have a proper discussion with my students on UROP, FYP and the MLE module..I wouldnt mind a short hols..am so looking forward to the bangkok trip in Jul..so near yet so far..how i wish i can haf a 2 hours super slow lunch..without anything on my mind..wake up without the ringing of alarm clocks that set my head ticking and ringing for the hectic day ahead..
am not simply sitting there to wish..i guess it takes a person of average intelligence to know what he/she wants..but take an exceptionally clever one to make it happen..perseverance is another quality to have for all who are in the same shit as me..plenty of mundane meetings, here, there, everywhere..plenty of nitty-gritty things to handle..and there goes ur day..hectic, tiring..but nothing done. Mayb am just too obsessed with doing everything perfectly..even those small little things..or mayb am just poor in my time planning.am tired..am frustrated.. :(
just added 8 items to my already long To-Do-List..after a 1 hr meeting..*feeling faint*
now i know why superman needs to assume a normal person's identity and not be superman all the time..Nope! not becos of his ugly "uniform"..but simply becos its too tiring~
am not simply sitting there to wish..i guess it takes a person of average intelligence to know what he/she wants..but take an exceptionally clever one to make it happen..perseverance is another quality to have for all who are in the same shit as me..plenty of mundane meetings, here, there, everywhere..plenty of nitty-gritty things to handle..and there goes ur day..hectic, tiring..but nothing done. Valentine's day
v day is just a highly commercial day. A day where couples still quarrel, girls and guys still get heartbroken ( in fact more than normal days i would think)..seriously Princess is beginning to dislike today..firstly it started off in a real bad note & princess's ez link card has got no more money, gotta use coins for bus tmr morning.not looking forward to anything.not even a single one. would rather drown myself in experiments tmr den to think of anything else. expectation kills everything.. not adopting a sore loser-who-cant-get-a-date mood..but rather dun see why things get so hyped up..its pointless.wats the point of spending a bomb on roses or gifts when u cant even understand the person u so called love?get the idea?
As for princess?Her Majesty dun need anything special. just need a man who understands her and knows what she wants and what she needs.seriously, this is even harder to find than a 3 carat pink flawless heart-shaped diamond.

for those who are not familiar with cell culture and stuff..Technically speaking they are culturing specific types of cells and it so happen that bacteria come along and contaminate the culture, thus throwing weeks, months of work down the drain..cos cells are what we want, not bacteria..

Princesse went to watch the first leg live at the National Stadium!it was such a great experience watching it live with 55000 fellow Singaporeans..after the match Princesse was practically voiceless..Kallang wave neva felt so good..the experience was complete with those super jokers who were suaning and hurling insulting remarks at the thais..not very nice but well, if we take it in a different light, things arent so bad..what can i say, they are just thinking aloud i guess.. *shrug*
Other than the heart throbbing moments whenever the ball went near Lionel Lewis (no, not that kind of heart throbbing..but out of fear i must say..who knows when he will gabra?;P) i've gotten some other insights from this chain of football action..
feel that its indeed hard to be gracious..when the thais were "bycotting" the match, lots of mean words were flying all over the national stadium..even the Thais back in Thailand could not truly accept their boycotting behaviour..GRACIOUSNESS..is it reali so hard? i would think so..recalling the "boo-ing" that were taking place whenever the opponents took control of the ball and the silence at the Thai stadium when Singapore scored..I truly think so..after they've lost the match, not much ppl bothered staying behind to see the Lions basking in their moment of glory.. it was quite a ironic sight when u can see the Lions smilling, celebrating, kissing the cup in the near-empty stadium..even i myself find it hard to be gracious at some point in time during the match..is it human nature?something that cant be changed?who can be so gracious and not be classified as fake?will we ever see real graciousness and not chuck it aside, classifying the person as a fake-o?hmm.. *shrug* but i must say that soccer is a fun game to watch and u MUST watch it with people who are super biased jokers.. it is a game to be enjoyed with a rowdy crowd..maybe best viewed in the ah-beng manner.. :p

Singapore Vs Malaysia
was watching soccer yesterday nite.. yes, Singapore vs Malaysia.. Didi got tickets to go see it live neva tell me! ended up watching it at home.. but well, its still quite fun..boy was Indra handsome.. maybe as compared to the others on the field.. but think can safely say that he is charismatic ba..
nono.. dun start thinking that i only watch for the "hunks"..cos this is NOT EPL or other leagues..as compared to those, there is nothing to watch!hee..skills wise?wat can i say.. the lions look reali lethargic..restless.. but i think if i were to go and play, i'll be crawling by the 3rd min..so i can only sit on my comfy chair and comment..hee..
overall its a draggy match..other than the blunder by lionel, and our goal, there was nothing much to note..cant reali blame our goalie i guess.. its just that the other team is so lucky.. :(
and also..thruout the 2nd half, i keep hearing Bernard Lim saying "someone suck"..if u recall carefully i guess u will noe who's name he was trying to pronounce..wat else can i say?*sigh* my deepest condolences.. :P

summing it all up
This week has been a week of emotional roller coaster..but well, when there is up, there has got to be down i guess..and nothing comes for free..Respect and understanding is something that all have to bear in mind be it in relation to frens, family and relationships of all kind..
for this week, i've gotten my new specs!new image!my new tutty nerdy specs..but do hope its more interllectual den others..haha~ quite expensive i thot..spent $285..but i guess its cos the frame is Emporio Armani..anyway who can see that tiny little logo on the side of the frame? its barely 0.3cm.. :( didnt get it cos of the brand la..so it doesnt reali matter.. hopefully its the quality..hee..

The Research in Me
is it so easy to give up? seriously i think people who are not perservering are definitely not suited to do research. Just when you face many possible errors in your results you would advise to stop the research and adopt a whole new way of doing it all over again, without even trying to solve the problems? what is it with this 'give up halfway' attitude?if that is the attitude one has in life, the person will neva succeed.
To me research is venturing unfamiliar grounds, its all about trail-blazing..it is expected that we do not know how we are going to get to somewhere but we just follow by faith and with perserverance and luck, we get there!even in times when we do not get there, i always believe that we will discover new routes to other places. Even if we get lost, we will leave behind traces such that others do not follow our footsteps. Obstacles are so expected in research and the joy comes from being able to overcome it, and overcome the situation. Don't you think the more obstacles there are throughout the journey, the more we will be able to appreciate the fruit of hard labour?This is my passion for research.
i agree that some people are just lucky. beginner's luck or whatever luck you can call it. some are just able to make discovery by mistake and sheer luck. BUT has anyone thought of the hard work put in behind this whole thing?you may question if there is. but if you think hard enough, the researcher would definitely have worked very hard trying to get to destination A, but through all the failed attempts and wrong routes taken, he discovers a new destination B! yes, he did not put in effort in trying to discover destination B and it was by sheer luck that he did. This is because he was only focusing on destination A. despite discovering B, he still has yet to get the A! it is still a setback in the discovery of A. but like what i mentioned previously, sometimes along the way, we do find new routes to new places, be it through luck or anything out of our control. Finding B is a little side-tracked reward for going on the journey of uncertainty, obstacles and rough terrains.

OPI colour
am finally buying the super covetted OPI nail colours online! have been talking about buying online since donkey years ago and now thanks to Yiming, who 'jio' me for the spree, i'm getting my own 4 bottles of OPI nail polish!! *love*
but here comes the bad part.. having to buy something which u have neva seen before..and having different websites showing different shades of colour when its SUPPOSED to be the same colour, doesnt help at all! wonder if its the setting of my com..but colours look so different!one moment its pink, the next website shows that it has more of a reddish tone! its so hard to decide.. guess it the 'price to pay' for getting reali cheap OPI colours.. sometimes reali wonder if i could live with such uncertainty.. i guess some might find it exciting, thus addicted to shopping online.. but really think Princess is not one person who can take risks.. even in this small, tiny, minute extent.. yes, its cheap for OPI but its still freaking $7-10 a bottle! its kinda ex as compared to lets say sally hansen?haha..and very ex as compared to Face shop, etc.. but well i really don't know how good OPI is.. only my manucurist knows.. cos she paints them on my fingers and toes..the only time i used OPI myself was my friend's bottle which was near to drying up! so noo good experience there..hee.. :P

be considerate, Singaporeans!
anyway, had quite a good weekend.. went for both the fireworks display.. by spain and by china.. boy must i say china's fireworks are good.. better than spain's in my opinion.. cos spain's ending part looks like they are just trying to clear whats left of their fireworks.. and to clear them fast! they simply just shot a messy assortment of fireworks up and don't seem to be caring much for the picture composition when its up in the sky.. the thought that came to my mind was that 'whats a planet-looking-thingy doing together with changing-colour-normal round-display with self-scrambling-red ants-looking fireworks‘? doesnt it occur to them that they don't make sense and definitely don't look nice together? hmmm.. they need to consult the princess's opinion on choreography of fireworks the next time round...
but well, this is not the main point about fireworks.. the main thing why i mention this other than this being my super-no.1-top-favourite is that i got super pissed off by some singaporeans!now now, hear the princess complain... here goes! we reached the place about 30-40 mins before the start and found that the place beside the esplanade was rather crowded.. then we approached a family who were there to ask if we could place our camera stand beside them..obviously not blocking their view..and in fact over the other side of the fence which they were leaning on.. and yes, they agreed..so we were very happy and i was convinced that singaporeans were nice! then when the time comes closer to that of the fireworks display, more and more people came.. then there was this group of friends.. comprising of 2 couples if i am not wrong.. then one of the girl squeezed herself right infront of me.. she is damn tall and she planted herself right infront of me! amazing manners! so i subtly tried to push her out of my space by attempting to adjust the camera stand and stick my butt out at her..i THOUGHT she will realise that she is invading my space and blocking me, so move away and give me a little bit more space.. BUT ＮＯ！！she gave me an irritated tone as if i was the one invading her space and blocking her! i couldnt take it any longer so i purposely pushed my bag in her direction, try to stand closer to her and poorly attempting to 'chase' her off. Yes, she did move but move in the wrong direction! she moved right infront of the couple standing infront of me and boldly block them right in the face! the couple just stood there stared at each other in disbelief.
i could not take it any longer, thus the words "so inconsiderate" came out of my mouth. The BF heard it. Told her gal and she had no response. So accustomed to this 2 words eh?used ever so frequently on her i would suppose. after which the bf attempted weakly to give me a 'pai seh' smile. but still no response from her. about 10 mins later, she responded! but in a totally unexpected manner! she shouted over the 2 other frens who were standing beside me, and ask why aren't they coming over to her side! *faint* apparently her friends know the situation better.. *jumping mad* comeon, they look like they are only 18-20+ years old as the bf was sporting a super short durian-botak head. just like the recruits! so whats with the younger generations? show some respects to the old ones like me! *grrr* i thought singaporeans are supposed to be educated in Civics and moral education, No?? go back and read your textbooks and remember what your parents have taught you. Yes, Manners is what i am referring to.
i told myself to take 100 mental pictures of her and make sure i can recognise her the next time i ever see her again. And am now super sensitive to the T-shirt with the word 'newbielogy' on it. Was worn by her bf. if i ever see this t-shirt again i will definitely scrutinise the gal with the person dorning the shirt. So if u have the t-shirt, keep it at home. DO NOT EVER wear it unless you want to be glared at. alternatively, u can give it to your enemy! i'm sure u wun mind him undergoing the scrutiny and harsh looks.

but well, this is not the main point about fireworks.. the main thing why i mention this other than this being my super-no.1-top-favourite is that i got super pissed off by some singaporeans!now now, hear the princess complain... here goes! we reached the place about 30-40 mins before the start and found that the place beside the esplanade was rather crowded.. then we approached a family who were there to ask if we could place our camera stand beside them..obviously not blocking their view..and in fact over the other side of the fence which they were leaning on.. and yes, they agreed..so we were very happy and i was convinced that singaporeans were nice! then when the time comes closer to that of the fireworks display, more and more people came.. then there was this group of friends.. comprising of 2 couples if i am not wrong.. then one of the girl squeezed herself right infront of me.. she is damn tall and she planted herself right infront of me! amazing manners! so i subtly tried to push her out of my space by attempting to adjust the camera stand and stick my butt out at her..i THOUGHT she will realise that she is invading my space and blocking me, so move away and give me a little bit more space.. BUT ＮＯ！！she gave me an irritated tone as if i was the one invading her space and blocking her! i couldnt take it any longer so i purposely pushed my bag in her direction, try to stand closer to her and poorly attempting to 'chase' her off. Yes, she did move but move in the wrong direction! she moved right infront of the couple standing infront of me and boldly block them right in the face! the couple just stood there stared at each other in disbelief.

新的最爱。。
公主有了新的最爱！！猜？是tutu王子送给公主的生日礼物！其实力公主的生日还差一个多月。。但市场上可能不再生产这一类的手机了。。（对啦。。是手机！）所以王子就先买了。。
就是它! 其实也说不出为什么这么喜欢它。。就是不停的想着它。。可能是很想拥有一个很好的相机-手机吧。。就不想老是带着相机。。其实我的相机也是迷你型的。。hehe..（好像是在找借口。。）
超喜欢它的vivid mode sms..简直和msn 一莫一样！而且超多animations!拿来拍烟花也没问题！有空时会上载所派到的照片!

我要去台湾！
看了今天的《都市大发现》。。台湾真的有好多东西吃喝玩乐！一定要到小巨蛋看演唱会，在马桶餐厅吃一餐！上次到台湾去好像是6年前吧。。都不大记得玩了些什么。。嘻嘻。。好像就到了那些‘普通’的景点。。和到处吃！台湾吃透透！
今天公主的心情还不算太好。。该做的东西没做完。。还听到了一些不怎么开心的消息。。其实也没什么大不了的。。就有那么一点点不开心。。不去想也就过去了。。
小王子今天没回家。。到朋友的家住。。真好命。。像当年我考完了o水准才有机会第一次和朋友到家附近的商场溜。。时代不一样了。。不忍老都不行了哦。。

为什么？:(
为什么用ipod听radio这么难？还得买remote control??*sigh* 还一位苹果已经改善了这项‘笨笨’的 ‘条例’。。 还得在浪费钱。。。
经天一整天心情还蛮不错的。。拼了老命在读harry porter & the deathly hallows..小王子终于读完了。。所以终于轮到我了！！得快快把它读完。。因为拖得越久，就越有可能听到别人述说故事情节！公主最讨厌自己还没读完，就听到故事的结局！！完全不能忍受！！简直会疯掉！！所以要快快哦。。。
晚餐到了manhattan fish market 吃。。真怀疑他们一天能赚多少钱。。每次去都排着长长的队！！真是不可思议。。但是东西好吃。。没办法。。嘴里是念着可是脚还是不听使唤。。跑到长龙的‘尾巴’站住了。。 ;p 他们的虾真的嗜好吃到不行！*slurp*
只好还跑去换我的crocs!把celery青色换成了cotton candy 粉红。。超可爱的。。嘻嘻。。好喜欢哦。。真觉得没选错颜色。。嘻嘻。。
好了。。一整天也就这样结束了。。不管自己有没充分利用。。其实能够有时间‘浪费’人生也是一种享受吧。。

有时候真觉得好奇。。真得很想到到底是谁在看我的部落格。。一天大概有一两个人到我的blog 上。。可是我身边的朋友都好像没什么上这个网站看一看我写的东西啊。。hmm..真的好想知道。。完成公主小小的心愿好吗？就在strawberrychat 上留言就好了啊。。先谢咯！！
好久不见咯！
真是好久没上我的部落格了。。
这段时间也是好多事情发生哦。。去了一趟泰国，买了好多好多衣服！！吃了好多好多的美食。。嘻嘻。。其实去那里是为了参加conference..顺便玩了多几天。。哈哈。。
可是其中还得赶报告。。就为了PhD qualifying exam..交上了一分84页的报告。。真得快死掉了。。回到新加坡 就不停的赶着准备oral presentation..可是最开心的是我的presentation一完，就马上得到机场搭飞机到香港去游山玩水！！感觉真的好棒哦！
香港天气好热！！真的是热到没办法忍受！！37/38度真的不是普通人能忍受的哦。。真的好夸张。。人也变得好黑！！现在要不停的美白美白美白。。可是和tutu王子一起游香港真得很好玩哦！到disneyland看烟花。。海洋公园看鲨鱼。。逛夜市。。浅水湾流汗。。victoria peak 看夜景，看烟花。。（香港的夜景真的是太美太美了。。）吃臭豆腐，烧腊，港式美食。。yum yum.. 真的还有点吃不够呢。。嘻嘻。。现在想起来都还有点饿了。。好一阵子每到香港去了。。所以就从新当一下游客。。还蛮不错的。。住呢，就住在daddy的hotel..marco polo hongkong..还蛮方便的。。跟何况不用给钱。。哈哈。。太爽了。。 :p
其实一切都还蛮顺利的。。exam 也pass 了。。教授也要到美国去了。。所以也就没人‘烦’我了！哈哈。。shhh... :p
在香港还买了ipod nano! 所以现在得去研究如何操作它了！公主的新玩具。。 :)

Amazing
it is realli amazing how time flies! its been 2 weeks since the mini 'big' day.. all went amazingly well~ :) the whole cocktail area was done up so prettily..with so many flowers, ribbons..and not forgetting the 'noisy' waterfall..*reminiscing* but all went past too fast! it was all over in a jiffy.. mayb cos there wasnt a moment for us to stop, think, look around and absorb all around us.. it was quite a mad rush going for makeup, change into the gown, preparing stuff.. think it was even more stressful for Prince TUTU..
the moment came when we had to do the march in..i think it was a feeling neva felt before..everyone seated there was waiting for u..looking at u..ALL attention on us.. it was beyond the normal butterflies-in-the-tummy thingy..it was ermm.. T-rex-in-tummy? haa..ok.. lame.. but well u get the idea..

actually there isnt much change in our lives after this.. just that there was no more choice of 'breaking up' in our mcq options whenever we quarrel? sounds kinda negative but well its a fact.am slowly getting used to ppl refering to Prince TUTU as hubby/husband/etc.. haha.. but well, to me he is still the same old TUTU..
it is reali a super duper busy time for me.. after the ROM thingy, headed straight into the pile of work waiting for me (after a one day break? heee~). rushing experiments and all..it was madness..now? am supposed to finish up my 100page report which WAS supposed to be due on fri! but heck! i am only at page 18! am so dead.. by hook or by crook,hafta get it ready by mon..which spells less than 24 hours away!*shit*. duno why am so not motivated to do up the report. too many tings to put into words i guess..still dun feel at ease writing in this kinda format. it seems like another FYP thesis to be done in simply 3days?comeon, i took about 1.5 weeks the last time round! but if i dun haf it completed by then, i will be in breech of contract..*$%#@*
so.................................i shall..........................go back.........................to write..............................my report...................................bye.........................to all..........................................for now! :P (sense the reluctance??;D )

let go while u still can
love this phrase at this point in time. so much so that i haf got more things to write about now.
it is so filled with despair and disappointment. it feels so 'stuck' as well.nothing can be done to remedy.nothing can be done to help. it seems like an advice as well. like an advice to all who still can make a choice, make a stand and be able to live with it. certain things are like this,when u have started it, you can no longer walk away.things no longer just concern you, but everyone around you. when this happens, you are no longer deciding based on what you want, but due to the others which your decision affects. in simple terms, you are no longer you. you are them. you have lost yourself to them. they have taken priority over your preference. it is no longer possible for you to act on your own accord without being termed as irresponsible.
your life is no longer yours but theirs'
this is when you know that letting go is not an option.
this is also when you know when you have to take responsibility for the choices you make.
after you make your choices, you have no choice.
certain things are just so amazing. when wavelengths no longer meet, there is simply no common grounds for discussions or talks. everything will be misinterpreted and everything will be misunderstood. everything will need explaination and everything will make you sick and tired. differences that once seems new and fresh will appear as thorns that you will want to irradicate. when one starts doing this, wounds will results. after the wound heals, scarring will set in. one wound is bearable, but when it increases beyond your threshold, you will seek anaesthetic. the sweet relief of anaesthetic is addictive and it will soon serve as a form of escape route. when one is looking at the escape route for too long, they will forget what made them want to enter the room initially. when they resent being in the room, regret entering the room, everything in that room is an eyesore. once regret and resentment builds, it turns into anger. and anger is this powerful weapon that one uses to hurt anyone or anything in the room. with anger as the weapon, the word 'sorry' is the shield. with both weapon and shield, the battle begins. whenever there is a battle, theres bound to be casualties. it could be the sword bearer, the shield bearer or simply a passerby. war is bloody, war is full of mistrust, full of suspiscion, full of hatred, full of pain, full of resentment, full of disgust, full of weariness, full of guilt, full of regret, full of all possible negative feelings and emotions. when everything is all charged up, the only way will be to let go.

let there be peace on the universe, the world, the country, the city, the community, the household, the individual. let there be peace on me.

Disney on Ice
went to watch finding Nemo on Ice @ indoor stadium..it was a plesant surprise.. actually planned for Michelle's bday..but i didnt know about it too.. hee.. the show was really nice..really cute too! it was a revist to the childhood dream of going for such a show..always dreamed of going for it since young.. but didnt have a chance to..at least 20 years down the road i finally got a chance to hold popcorn in one hand, candy floss in the other, sit so near the skating rink and watch all the characters "fly" on the ice..mickey, donald duck and all..the story was the same Finding Nemo from the movies just that its acted out live! the props are really amazing.. the scale of how big the whale actually is is really impressive.. not to mention the indoor fireworks..such a surprise.. :) this is definitely a show i will bring my boy-boy and girl-girl in the future..haha..

Silence as a form of communication
since when did silence become another form of communication?since when did silence become the best way to confront a problem and solve it?since when did ignoring become the most efficient way of conveying a message?is this type of silence good?good that it helps avoid confrontation?no.. neva agreed to that. to me this was all rubbish.totally escapist.
but now?i have succumbed and relented. i have failed my philosophy. realised that tiredness have all sorts of possible influences, be it good or bad.
it is a very thin line between using silence as a form of communication and giving up. its so thin, i cant see it anymore.
suddenly feel so lost, like my world lost its center. intensity of things does make ppl lose themselves. I have lost myself in the process. cant remember what i was like in the past.its a distant memory.

my CNY
Princess Royale and her entire Kingdom wishes all a Happy new year!
Princess just came back from her CNY trip to Genting..though it was a short and nearby one.. but it was one which is SYMBOLIC.. :) it is the first time they ALL went on a trip together..though there are few unhappy moments, but its still fun having u (Prince T) ard..much much better than without u ( Prince T).. *big grinz*
well..wat can i say abt Genting?neva liked it anyway..haha..was dragged there..if not for Prince T, i wun even be going..haha..thanx for all the monopoly sessions with Prince E and Prince T..our cursed game of pool and bowling till our nails start to break off (i mean literally! its painful *sob*) Princess bought quite a number of cosmetic from Kate..(Prince T not Nabe! *grunt*) highlight flash, finish mascara..bought a diva-ish bag too.. neva mind if its the 137th bag that Princess have..there isnt much difference between 137 and 136..really couldnt resist this furry one from Korea..awww...it doubles as the 245th soft toy..haa...
will upload some of the dumb photos we took..its hilarious..*rolling on the floor laffing*
other than that? Princess is back in the lab..working on her Polyvinyl Alcohol electrospin..hope everything works out before tomorrow! got some reporting to do during meeting.. *triple grunt* and where, where, where is my antibiotics!! quick deliver them to the Princess so that she can do up her work on antibiotics!!
also Princess's schedule is so packed ever since she got back!went to watch Norbit yesterday, today going to Prince T's house for CNY, tmr going to rest after a long day of work and meeting, sat going to Princess J's house for CNY,nice buffet, board game sessions and BIG ang baos here i come! Sunday will be visiting Princess's grandparents.. the Grand-King and Grand-Queens..sounds busy enuf for the Princess..Packed all the way till Sunday~
BTW, Norbit is fun! haha..some brainless jokes..but well, its sometimes good to not use your brain too much.. Runs the risk of overheating..

also Princess's schedule is so packed ever since she got back!went to watch Norbit yesterday, today going to Prince T's house for CNY, tmr going to rest after a long day of work and meeting, sat going to Princess J's house for CNY,nice buffet, board game sessions and BIG ang baos here i come! Sunday will be visiting Princess's grandparents.. the Grand-King and Grand-Queens..sounds busy enuf for the Princess..Packed all the way till Sunday~
BTW, Norbit is fun! haha..some brainless jokes..but well, its sometimes good to not use your brain too much.. Runs the risk of overheating..

Give me time
how i wish i have the time. all the time in the world..i would take a break, do my long long long overdued experiments, do up my review journal paper, plan for my project directions, have a proper discussion with my students on UROP, FYP and the MLE module..I wouldnt mind a short hols..am so looking forward to the bangkok trip in Jul..so near yet so far..how i wish i can haf a 2 hours super slow lunch..without anything on my mind..wake up without the ringing of alarm clocks that set my head ticking and ringing for the hectic day ahead..
am not simply sitting there to wish..i guess it takes a person of average intelligence to know what he/she wants..but take an exceptionally clever one to make it happen..perseverance is another quality to have for all who are in the same shit as me..plenty of mundane meetings, here, there, everywhere..plenty of nitty-gritty things to handle..and there goes ur day..hectic, tiring..but nothing done. Mayb am just too obsessed with doing everything perfectly..even those small little things..or mayb am just poor in my time planning.am tired..am frustrated.. :(
just added 8 items to my already long To-Do-List..after a 1 hr meeting..*feeling faint*
now i know why superman needs to assume a normal person's identity and not be superman all the time..Nope! not becos of his ugly "uniform"..but simply becos its too tiring~

Valentine's day
v day is just a highly commercial day. A day where couples still quarrel, girls and guys still get heartbroken ( in fact more than normal days i would think)..seriously Princess is beginning to dislike today..firstly it started off in a real bad note & princess's ez link card has got no more money, gotta use coins for bus tmr morning.not looking forward to anything.not even a single one. would rather drown myself in experiments tmr den to think of anything else. expectation kills everything.. not adopting a sore loser-who-cant-get-a-date mood..but rather dun see why things get so hyped up..its pointless.wats the point of spending a bomb on roses or gifts when u cant even understand the person u so called love?get the idea?
As for princess?Her Majesty dun need anything special. just need a man who understands her and knows what she wants and what she needs.seriously, this is even harder to find than a 3 carat pink flawless heart-shaped diamond.

just received this link from neighbouring lab on their bacteria infection of their cells..cant believe that Sambit actually made a video for the bacterias and posted on youtube! u've gotta see it to believe it..its hilarious..must really comment that the song REALLY suit the topic..haha.. for those who are not familiar with cell culture and stuff..Technically speaking they are culturing specific types of cells and it so happen that bacteria come along and contaminate the culture, thus throwing weeks, months of work down the drain..cos cells are what we want, not bacteria..

Singapore won!!congratulations to the Lions! We beat Thailand!yeah... Well done Lions! :)
Princesse went to watch the first leg live at the National Stadium!it was such a great experience watching it live with 55000 fellow Singaporeans..after the match Princesse was practically voiceless..Kallang wave neva felt so good..the experience was complete with those super jokers who were suaning and hurling insulting remarks at the thais..not very nice but well, if we take it in a different light, things arent so bad..what can i say, they are just thinking aloud i guess.. *shrug*
Other than the heart throbbing moments whenever the ball went near Lionel Lewis (no, not that kind of heart throbbing..but out of fear i must say..who knows when he will gabra?;P) i've gotten some other insights from this chain of football action..
feel that its indeed hard to be gracious..when the thais were "bycotting" the match, lots of mean words were flying all over the national stadium..even the Thais back in Thailand could not truly accept their boycotting behaviour..GRACIOUSNESS..is it reali so hard? i would think so..recalling the "boo-ing" that were taking place whenever the opponents took control of the ball and the silence at the Thai stadium when Singapore scored..I truly think so..after they've lost the match, not much ppl bothered staying behind to see the Lions basking in their moment of glory.. it was quite a ironic sight when u can see the Lions smilling, celebrating, kissing the cup in the near-empty stadium..even i myself find it hard to be gracious at some point in time during the match..is it human nature?something that cant be changed?who can be so gracious and not be classified as fake?will we ever see real graciousness and not chuck it aside, classifying the person as a fake-o?hmm.. *shrug* but i must say that soccer is a fun game to watch and u MUST watch it with people who are super biased jokers.. it is a game to be enjoyed with a rowdy crowd..maybe best viewed in the ah-beng manner.. :p

Singapore Vs Malaysia
was watching soccer yesterday nite.. yes, Singapore vs Malaysia.. Didi got tickets to go see it live neva tell me! ended up watching it at home.. but well, its still quite fun..boy was Indra handsome.. maybe as compared to the others on the field.. but think can safely say that he is charismatic ba..
nono.. dun start thinking that i only watch for the "hunks"..cos this is NOT EPL or other leagues..as compared to those, there is nothing to watch!hee..skills wise?wat can i say.. the lions look reali lethargic..restless.. but i think if i were to go and play, i'll be crawling by the 3rd min..so i can only sit on my comfy chair and comment..hee..
overall its a draggy match..other than the blunder by lionel, and our goal, there was nothing much to note..cant reali blame our goalie i guess.. its just that the other team is so lucky.. :(
and also..thruout the 2nd half, i keep hearing Bernard Lim saying "someone suck"..if u recall carefully i guess u will noe who's name he was trying to pronounce..wat else can i say?*sigh* my deepest condolences.. :P

summing it all up
This week has been a week of emotional roller coaster..but well, when there is up, there has got to be down i guess..and nothing comes for free..Respect and understanding is something that all have to bear in mind be it in relation to frens, family and relationships of all kind..
for this week, i've gotten my new specs!new image!my new tutty nerdy specs..but do hope its more interllectual den others..haha~ quite expensive i thot..spent $285..but i guess its cos the frame is Emporio Armani..anyway who can see that tiny little logo on the side of the frame? its barely 0.3cm.. :( didnt get it cos of the brand la..so it doesnt reali matter.. hopefully its the quality..hee..
